Devices and Mac OS X version
Vlc Player Mac Os
Jan 19, 2021 I love VLC on Linux and Windows but IINA is hands down the better player on Mac, so glad I switched after someone recommended it to me on these forums. It plays everything VLC can (including AV1) whilst being extremely lightweight and in keeping with the macOS UI. VLC on macOS always felt like a sluggish after thought. With Parallels Desktop 17, you can run Windows 11 on Intel-based and M1-based Macs, though an M1 Mac will support only the ARM-based version of Windows 11. You want to take the Windows 11 Insider preview for a test drive, but you'd like to run it on your Mac so that you can easily bounce between Windows and macOS. VLC media player for macOS updated with full support for M1 Macs. Posted by 8 months ago. Been using IINA since I got my M1 chip, it supports Apple Silicon if you build it yourself. Continue this thread.
VLC is a powerful all-in-one, open-source, cross-platform media player. It supports most audio/video formats, DVDs and CDs, and various streaming protocols.
VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.
If you need help in finding the correct package matching your Mac's processor architecture, please see this official support document by Apple. You can also choose to install a Universal Binary.
Web browser plugin for Mac OS X
Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.
